What pump.fun signals actually mean

A "signal" is just a token a tool thinks is worth a look right now. The only question that matters is what it screened before it told you. Here is how to read one without getting farmed.

What a memecoin signal is

Pump.fun is a Solana launchpad where anyone can mint a token in seconds. Hundreds appear per hour. A signal is an automated alert that surfaces one of them — usually because it is moving on price, volume, or new-buyer flow. A signal is not a promise the token will go up. It is a pointer that says "this one cleared a filter, look now."

The difference between a useful signal and noise is entirely in the filter. A bot that alerts on every token that ticks up is a firehose that will hand you rugs all day. A bot that screens first is doing the work that keeps your wallet alive.

What a real signal screens for

Before a call is worth reading, it should have checked the same things you would check by hand — at machine speed, on every candidate:

A call that passed all of that is a different object than a raw "it's pumping" ping. It still is not a guarantee — nothing is in this market — but the floor under it is higher.

Why most signals are noise

Paid pump groups and farm bots make money whether you do or not. They alert late, alert on everything, or alert on tokens their own operators are exiting into. The tell is volume without screening: if a channel posts dozens of calls an hour with no rug data attached, you are the exit liquidity, not the audience.

How to read a screened call

A good signal card shows you why it fired and what it found: the chain, the rug-screen verdict, liquidity and age, buy pressure, and a working route to trade it in your own wallet. You should be able to glance at it and make your own call — never just tap and pray. The signal narrows the field. The decision stays yours.

Bottom line: a signal is only as good as what it screened. Ignore volume-for-volume's-sake channels. Read calls that show their rug-screen, give you the on-chain numbers, and route you to trade with your own keys. Then decide for yourself.
